Wow! We have had like 7 days of straight rain..i actually love the rain but at this point it is a total downer..i miss the sun..

I'm still not feeling well.. However my business is so great because if I need to rest or take a break, I can! I have come to appreciate it more and more since I have been sick...

Sometimes when something "not so good" happens in your life, you really see a more clearer picture of yourself and what you really want to accomplish. I have been sick for like over 6 weeks now and they still can't figure out my problem..I know I can't be the only one in the world who has had a problem that doctors can't figure out but it really makes me empathize with those who've gone through this..it's very frustrating..my pain isn't constant so i do get relief but since I can't eat hardly at all, it has effected my energy level. I no longer can work out which was my hobby. I loved it because it was a stress relief for me but now I don't know if I could get through 10 minutes...anyway..I don't want to complain...

I will feel better soon...it's just a matter of time..

Still Staying Laser Focused on Business during tough times

I must say that the last 4 weeks have been very tough for me. I haven't been feeling well and it's been so hard to keep working.

My symptoms are abdominal pain and discomfort alongside of back pain..I've had a few tests such as gallbladder and endoscopy and still no answers yet BUT believe it or not I'm still working.

Working from home allows me to rest, take breaks and when the pain pill kicks in, I can get back to work..How many jobs out there could offer me that? "Excuse me boss but would you mind if I laid down for a little while, I don't feel well"
Yeah right! That wouldn't happen!

I have NEVER been more grateful for this business and throughout all this I'm still moving forward AND getting a paycheck!

Illness is interfering with my work

Just this past week I have been suffering with bad abdominal pain to the point where I am keeled over...it's dehabiliting...but the strange thing is it passes after about an hour or two...I am one of those people that can take pain and I never run to the doctor unless I really have to..I started with all the tests needed like abdominal cat scans and ultrasounds but so far haven't heard anything..they are leaning toward my gallbladder being the culprit but waiting for the evidence...

Having a home business is wonderful but this is totally interfering with my work..
leads are piling up and I can't seem to get caught up and it's so frustrating..
I am grateful though that I can take the time I need to get this thing straightened out and I won't lose my business..if I was working outside the home eventually I would probably be fired or let go so I am so thankful that will never happen..

Hopefully this week I will find some answers to what is going on with me so I can get back on the horse...

Mothers Day

You know, I am very lucky to have the GREATEST parents on earth and a mom that is amazing in so many ways..

From the outside looking in, some people may think my parents have a "weird" dynamic.
My mom is very rough around the edges but with a heart bigger than anyone I have ever known and my dad is quiet and very passive. So you could say that my mom wears the pants in the family..

Growing up she seemed so strict compared to the other kids' parents and I often felt like she was too hard on me. Now that I am older, I appreciate the fact that she worked very hard and tirelessly to keep me on track. I never hung around with the wrong crowd, I always had hobbies and for the most part I never wanted for anything.
We lived in a very small house but my memories of my childhood definetly outscore any memories of my adulthood, that's for sure..

Mothers Day means so much more today than it ever has and being a mom myself I can obviously appreciate and see how tough a job it is.

Both my parents are getting older and in good health but I know many people not fortunate enough to have them around anymore. I treasure the years to come with both my parents and can only hope that I myself will become to be as good if not better a parent then both my parents.

So this mothers day, appreciate your mom. She may not be perfect..She may have made many mistakes but one thing holds true, she's the only mom you've got! So reflect on
the "good" in your mom and let go of any imperfections. I believe that will help
you become a better mom as well. So Happy Mothers Day to all those moms out there and remember that you can always be a better mom.

TROY, Kan. (AP) -- Residents of a northeast Kansas town are mourning the deaths just hours apart of an elderly couple who were married 67 years. Arnita Yingling died in her sleep early Saturday at the family's home in Troy. She was 93. Six hours later her 95-year-old husband, Lyle, died at a nursing home in the nearby town of Wathena.

At their funeral Wednesday, friends and relatives described the two as inseparable. Some found comfort knowing neither would have to live without the other.

The Yinglings were married in 1941. Both were born on northeast Kansas farms and were active in Troy as members of their church and civic organizations.

I know many of you have read this before but no matter how many times I read something like this, I can't help but to shed a tear..Can you imagine all the memories this couple shared together, all the good times and bad..67 years of a life together..what a blessing and what an inspiration to so many...

My mother-in-law and father in law were married for 66 years and my mother in law passed away this past July 2008..my father in law is still living but it's so hard for him, you can tell...He is still so strong physically and mentally and i think if it wasn't for him having such a love and closeness to his family, he probably would've passed away by now..

These couples show such a deep level of committment to one another..what a beautiful story

OFF THE SUBJECT: MY 3 YR OLD IS OBSESSED WITH CLOTHING! HELP!

I don't know what has gotten into my daughter...she is obsessed with clothes and it's just not clothes, her obsession is with SHORT SLEEVES! For the past few months, a day doesn't go by without the same conversation about how she wants to wear short sleeves...she absolutely REFUSES to wear long sleeves..she also wants to change her clothes like 6-10 times a day..she will go as far as put something on her shirt to make it look dirty so I will allow her to change it..

I have no idea what to do..should I allow her to be able to change that many times a day? a friend suggested that I put a time frame on the next time she can change..for ex. tell her that at 2:00 she can change into a different outfit but not until then..

I am very pleased that she is potty trained finally! She will be 3 in May so we accomplished it before her 3rd birthday but I have been told by family members and friends that I am not strict enough with her..I have been told that I should be making her wear what I want her to wear..not letting her choose..my therapist tells me that even at her age, she should be allowed to choose what she wants to put on..
I'd love to hear some of you guys' suggestions on this topic?

It's TOUGH out there..

The other day I spoke with a woman on the phone whose story broke my heart. She has 4
children and the oldest is 17 and pregnant. She was divorced after 21 years and now living on her own in a small 2 bedroom with all 4 kids and one grandbaby on the way. Although she felt "stuck" there was nothing I could say to help her understand that she's NOT stuck..i know it's hard to see that when everything seems so hopeless but if you continue to think that way than you will only attract more negativity into your life and not only that but you will find yourself in a rut..everyone goes through difficult times but the key is how you respond to those difficulties. Changing your thinking can really change the course of your life but you must start there first. Start with YOU!Start dreaming again and write down what you would like to see change in your life in the months and years to come..don't depend on others to "save you"

Feed your mind with good stuff..find inspiration in books and listen to motivational speakers ...it's YOUR life..you owe it to yourself and your family to change your mindset and then create an action plan..

Monday, Monday!

It's Monday..the beginning of the week and the beginning of many things to be accomplished...

This past week we made great strides with my daughter and the potty.She is FINALLY getting it..she's had a few accidents but for the most part, she's doing very well..
Things started to change when I let her wear her big girl underpants all day, not at night though because she sleeps with us. If she had an accident she didn't like the feeling of the wet on her..so YEAH we're on the road to NO MORE DIAPERS!!!!
This opens up so many doors as far as work because once she's totally potty trained, she can go to pre-school maybe once or twice a week..This will allow me to work steadily..Yippee!

It's going to be a GREAT week guys!

The Challenges of working at home

There are many challenges a person may face when working from home. Alot of people just don't realize how important it is to be disciplined and focused..so many interruptions and distractions come your way that normally do not play a role when working outside the home. However, the advantages are that you are in control of your day and how you want things to go..i find this part of working at home so EMPOWERING!

I've just recently decided to take a step with allowing someone to come into my home to help out a few days a week. This would give me even more of a chance to have a schedule and more opportunity to work. Alot of times I'm struggling to "fit things in" here and there while doing household chores and it's very trying at times.

My best advice to someone looking for a homebusiness or work at home is to create a schedule and try to stick to it. So for ex. laundry from 11am-12pm and from 1:00-
2:00pm Work Time, 2:00-3:00 playtime with the kids..even if you don't stick to it
exact, at least have an outline of your day, it will keep things running much more smoothly.

There are many more challenges that may come your way when working at home but the bottom line is to prioritize..try NOT to spend your entire day working, especially if you have children, because chances are you are defeating the entire purpose for staying home..most people do this because they have children and would like to be there for them. Balance is the key here..For all of you who currently work at home, I'd love to hear your some of your suggestions and opinions on this topic!

Using Craigslist to generate leads

What a beautiful day here today! The sun is out and maybe my daughter and I can actually get outside..

Today I want to talk a little about using Free Classified advertising to generate leads to your business. Craigslist is really a great site to get the word out about your business or opportunity. It can be a bit tricky though because if you have a business opportunity or service, you have to be careful what category you choose to post in because often times your ad will be flagged..I tend to post my ads in "employment" although Ameriplan is a business opportunity, simply because many people stay clear of the biz opp page for the simple reason that it's kind of scary, lol..anwyay..

Consider using craigslist and sites like backpage to get your word out about any product or service..there are tons of people on these sites and it's a great FREE way to generate business..

Up at 5am on a Saturday Morning? What's up with that!

I have no idea what is going on with me..For say the last 4 months, I get up VERY early in the morning something I would have never done in the past. Being a musician by nature you can imagine that 5am is alot closer to finally calling it a day than actually starting the day..

I've always been a night owl and sleeping as late as I could was never an option, it was mandatory or I was grouchy and unproductive..

Is it really true that as you get older you don't need as much sleep?? I think I should research this topic more because I am totally SHOCKED that sleeping 6-7 hours per night is enough for me to function especially when I've always needed at least 8-10, at least!

So what's changing in my world? Well..My excitement in my business is really the driving force behind this new Revelation..I am so excited about all the new things I am learning and I am enjoying the fact that my business is growing. I am experiencing success in so many aspects of my life right now so maybe that's why I can't sleep? Although it's really since my little one has been born. The past few years have brought on so many changes as you can imagine..Changes that I have welcomed eagerly and although it hasn't been always easy, it's been a great experience. I love watching my daughter grow too..Being home with her and working from home is so rewarding..I wouldn't want to miss this for the world!

It's now 7:20am on a Saturday morning and as I look out the window, I notice that the neighborhood is still sleeping...most if not all of these people get up very early during the week to get to their jobs so saturday is obviously their chance to sleep in...

I guess I just might rest a little...i do feel kind of tired this morning though...

I'll tell ya, when i used to work outside the home, I HATED Monday's..Now, I love Monday's..

Monday means so many good and exciting things to me now..There are many challenges that I have to face each day but it's all good..

First of all it's the beginning of my "work" week....New Goals and deadlines to meet that I, myself have created..not anyone BUT me...I also have to figure in my work out schedule..if I go over 3 days during the week than I am ecstatic...Working out is very important to me..it keeps me feeling good, releases stress and keeps my weight down..

On Mondays, my daughter and I plan our week too..I love being able to see her grow and I am so looking forward to the warm weather..So happy Spring is here although the temps here in RI do not reflect Spring yet...but hope is on the way..

I am so EXCITED about Spring starting today..So I've decided to give away a $25 gift card..For some reason this winter seemed to really drag...I think it's seemed alot longer than normal because my daughter wanted to go outside so bad..there's only so much you can do inside the house...I did venture out this winter a few times but I am not a big fan of the cold..it takes like 3 minutes and I'm ready to run back in and warm up..

Creating Balance in your home when you work at home

Another day in my crazy life of working from home and living in my home..

So much to do..sometimes it can be so hard to balance everything..business, housework, cooking, laundry, and of course my little Lexy..it's tough because although she has become more independent now that she's almost 3, I still have to have activities for her. If my phone rings, I don't want to neglect her but at the same time, my business is at home so I have to answer it. The Balance Challenges that I face each day is nothing compared to having to go outside the home and leave my princess so I take my daily challenges with a grain of salt..

When things feel overwhelming and crazy, I immediately think of everything I am GRATEFUL for and I become relaxed..I also take time out each day for a workout. That also relieves any anxiousness and stress I may be feeling..It also helps to make a schedule or another words and Outline in my case..I can't always stick to it exact because things come up that may alter it a bit but it does keep you focused on what your goals are for the day..

It's supposed to rain today and I'm looking forward to it..I find rain very calming..

How to Deal with Negative People

Every once in a while as I'm going through my work day, I will encounter a very negative person. Someone who has done some research on my company and they find some negative information..As I try to explain a different side, I find myself getting defensive and frustrated because no matter what I say, the prospect has an answer. It's obvious that they have made up their mind and the information they have discovered must be true because why would it be out there? Well, I can tell you that huge companies such as Walmart and Microsoft are not free and clear of complaints..No companies of that magnitude can escape unhappy customers, it's just not realistic so does that mean that you stop shopping there? Plus we are affillated with Fortune 500 companies such as Sears, JCPenney,Lens Crafters, Walmart and more..those companies would not team up with us if we were a fly by night company. Not to mention we have a 16 year solid foundation behind us..

I truly believe that there are people out there that when faced with something good and something not so good, the "something not so good" dominates....there's no way you can convince a person with that thought process to change at least not in 20 minutes on the phone...Unfortunately, I found myself going around in circles, wasting my time and energy on a person who just wanted to argue. Later on, I thought it over and I regretted that I just didn't end the call sooner because of the simple fact that it was depressing actually. I think the lesson learned here is some people you should just "let go". You don't know where they're coming from, where they are and where they're going and it's fair to say that people get to that state of mind because they fall into a trap and can't see the light at the end of the tunnel and that brings me to my next thought.

We've all experienced bad times and hard times but it's how you handle these situations that can ultimately affect your course. You can learn from the hard times and see how you can change or you can simply be a "victim", feel sorry for yourself and throw in the towel. I don't know about you but I'd rather take the first option.

So, what do I do if I'm kind of down and need an uplift? Feed good things in. I stay away from the news as much as I can because it seems like lately it's really a downer with the economy being so bad and it's the same reports over and over. Listen to speakers like Bryan Dodge and read positive books. Working out is also a great stress relief. You can go for a walk or do some kind of physical activity. That always gets me feeling better.

If you find yourself falling into the "negative" trap, find a way to get out of that mindset FAST! Remember that how you respond to life's challenges will ultimately determine your success in life.

So important to educate people to think "outside the box"

With the economy the way it is and people losing their jobs, it's so important for people to understand there are options out there. People have been so "programmed" to think a certain way..you go to school, maybe go onto college, get a great "job", work 40 hrs/wk for 40 years and finally retire...I was one of those people but guess what??it's just not happening but some people you know will never get it..they think if it doesn't follow that "example" then it's nonsense or not real..

Hi fellow work from homers or not..it's Saturday and it's my decision if I want to work today or not but I know it's in my best interest to get down to business. My workload is pretty heavy..anyway..

I'd like to talk a little bit about CONNECTIONS and the huge role it plays online..if you think about it, connections is pretty much everything when trying to promote your blog, meet friends on Twitter or facebook and in business in general.

In a homebusiness, it's so important to build a good rapore with your customer because there are so many online schemes hogging up the internet and jading potential customers to think all online businesses are scams so the "good guys" have to work alot harder to gain respect from people.

You don't want to spend your time trying to CONVINCE someone to join your business or become a customer but you simply want to educate them on what you have to offer. Most often if you've established a connection in the beginning and really listened to their needs, it will make the conversation so much smoother but remember, you always want the potential customers needs put first ahead of your needs. By establishing connections, it not only makes the conversation more fun but you may find that you not only have created a new customer but a new friend.

My daughter My "Why"

Since my daughter Lexy has been born, obviously my thoughts and ideas have changed about me and life in general. I've always been a hard worker with goals but now that she's been born, I want so much for her. My "why" for working from home is so I can be with her. I don't want to leave her. I don't want some stranger watching her and I want to watch her grow and develop. So even on the not so great days, I have to take a moment to appreciate the fact that I even have this opportunity. Life is too short to let these moments slip by..

If you're unhappy in your current job situation or would like to spend more time with your family, research your options. You don't want to be one of those people who regret that they never tried or took a chance. You don't have to follow the "norm" and be like everyone else. Step outside the box and dream again. Don't let anyone steal your dreams and don't let anyone tell you working from home doesn't work, because it does.

What is a Homebusiness Hopper?

When I say the words "Homebusiness Hopper" what image comes to mind?

Well first of all, everyone knows what a homebusiness is but in definition, what exactly is a "hopper" or more specifically a "homebusiness hopper"

Well, Merriam-Webster's Dictionary defines a hopper as so:

1 a: one that hops b: a leaping insect; specifically: an immature hopping form of an insect.

Well obviously we're not talking about insects here but real human beings. Human beings who try a business and when the money doesn't start pouring in right away, they then hop on to the next one..If this is you, you need to re-evaluate your hopping skills, lol, just kidding...Actually you need to re-evaluate your "reality".

Homebusinesses take work..it's no different than any other business "outside the home" except it's now "in the home". People have fantasies that a home business brings fortunes without any hard work..It can bring fortunes but not without effort. There's the idea that because it's in the home, it must be easier..WRONG! It's not that it's easier, it's just, in my opinion more flexible and convenient..no worries about what to wear or enough gas in the tank or the time to work. Those things no longer matter anymore but what does matter is that YOU are now the BOSS which can be very empowering. Quite honestly it can be hard at times because it's so easy NOT to be disciplined because there's no one there to delegate job tasks or keep you in line..

So before you hop onto another online venture or business, remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is but on the other hand, see things for what they are and make decisions based on your goals and what you believe in..If it's something you can't find yourself too passionate about, chances are neither will your customers!

Get Rich Schemes! Why do people fall for it?

So frustrating..ugh!

On a daily basis I talk with people who fall into this trap! Get Rich Schemes! Why? Because they want to..Because that's what they want to hear..

Face it! They just don't work..

I hung up with a woman the other day who was investing something like $5000 into a business which promises $50,000 per year immediately..If you invested more, the return was higher..When I asked her what she would be doing, she could barely answer the question..all she could see was the end result which was the GUARANTEED $50,000 her first year in business..that was her MAIN focus..not what she would be doing, nor the credibility of the company, just the annual salary..

So, why do people fall for this? They want to..they buy into a dream not reality..

Any real job or business takes work...when I tried to explain the Ameriplan Opportunity and how it was a real business with a low investment and overhead and you can make great money while helping others, she didn't want to hear it..Why? People want everything right now and they buy into the fantasy that you can make this kind of money without doing anything.

These types of people are their own worst enemy and you know what really killed me about this particular woman? She didn't want to hear my advice..she was going to be scammed like so many others and she had no desire to be talked out of it..I did tell her, please don't call me in 3 months to tell me that you've lost your investment because I tried to tell you so..In the back of my mind, I know that she will be one of those people who down the line will say "All online businesses are scams" because of that one experience because that's what these types of people do.

What about the people promising these schemes? I believe in my heart that what goes around comes around and in time, they themselves will face the consequences.

Work from home daily challenges

I love working from home..it's really great but boy is it hard sometimes. You try to juggle so many things...family, work, house work, cooking, phone calls,and the list goes on..Honestly, I would never want it any other way but I still find it very challenging...I make schedules..I make lists...I designate time frames to get the tasks done but still feel like there's never enough time...There must be something I'm still doing wrong...I'll figure it out someday..

Off the Subject: Sexting?? So sad...

I wanted to blog about this story. It has been bothering me since Friday.

The other day on the Today Show I was sickened by the story of the 18 year old girl who sent a nude photo to her boyfriend who turned around and forwarded it to everyone and anyone. Her name was Jesse Logan. A beautiful 18 year old girl who ended her life in July 2008 because of all the pain and ridicule that came along with making a really big mistake.

Kids today just do not understand the consequences of their actions..Even more sad is 39 percent of these teens are sending or posting sexually suggestive messages, and 48 percent reported receiving such messages. Something is terribly wrong here..

Jesse Logan was described as a vivacious, fun and very compassionate young woman. She was a "good" kid who made a terrible mistake. A young girl with her whole life ahead of her. There were solutions but no one realized how deeply burdened and embarrassed she felt although there were so many signs there and what about the boy who decided to forward that picture? How does he feel now? There was no mention of him or his parents. I can't imagine how his parents feel.

I have a young daughter and can't imagine dealing with something like this but what it comes down to is you really have to pay attention to your kids..talk to them, find out how they feel and work out solutions to problems..They've got to know you're there for them...

If morals and values are instilled in them to begin with, something like this wouldn't have happened in the first place. I don't know..what do you guys think?

Rhode Island has the HIGHEST unemployment rate in the Nation

This morning on the news it was reported that Rhode Island has the fastest and highest unemployment rate in the nation.. People are being driven out of here for so many reasons and it's very sad. As far as our foreclosure rate, Rhode Island recorded 3,479 foreclosures last year, among 390,403 residential properties. Property taxes are high here relative to the U.S. as a whole, it's higher than Massachusettes and slightly lower than Connecticut.

The Five states where the bad economy plus housing woes hit particularly hard and the greatest increases in per capita bankruptcy filings were found in Nevada (7.15 filings per 1,000 residents), Delaware (4.02), California (3.57), Florida (3.63) and Rhode Island (3.99).

It's very depressing to me..All this news about the bad economy here and everywhere. It's in the newspapers, internet and the news practically every minute in the day..It's so sickening!

Library Day!

Another Wednesday..Wednesday's are exciting for Lexy and me because we go to story hour at the library..I can't believe that's the highlight of my week..well not really but it is for both Lexy and Me together..This age is so tough..she's not quite 3 and she wants to learn so much and since I'm with her all day, she relies on me for play..That makes it hard for me to work though because she wants my attention alot. I want to enjoy these moments because so many people tell me that they're gone in a snap but I do enjoy working too..

It's so hard to find that balance! I've struggled with that since I started working from home..I suppose it will get easier as she grows and becomes more independent. I'm just grateful I can stay home and be with her.

Brrrr..can't take the cold

It seems like the older I get the colder I get...I absolutely HATE going outside now..I don't understand it..when I was a kid, I would wait anxiously to get out there and be out there for hours..

It's March! When is Spring coming??

I'm so jealous of all those people in warm climates..it's so hard to keep Lexy busy in the house all day..it gets so boring for her and it makes it hard for me to work from home..

Well, we are on our way to the library!

I'm dreading going into the garage to get in the car! Then I have to get out of the car and walk into the library! UGH!

If that was my only worry in life..right? I have absolutely nothing to complain about!

Dealing with an Unsupportive Spouse

It's a snowy day here in Rhode Island and as usual I have gotten up very early so I can work on the computer. It's very hard being married to someone who is not very supportive with my business aspirations but I do what I can to keep going.

What do I do to keep going?

Well first off I try to get up early so I can't be pestered and I can concentrate on my daily goals.. Also, when he's not home, I make phone calls and answer emails. He gets very annoyed when he comes home from work or even if he has a day off and I'm on the computer. I suppose because the attention is NOT on him, he gets annoyed.
The other thing I do is I don't talk as much about my business to him as I'd like to..We only argue because I guess he feels I should be making a 6 figure income by now because I've been with the company over 2 1/2 years but keep in mind, I work very part time from home..LOL!! It actually makes me laugh because if I was working outside the home part time, I wouldn't even be making what I make from home and the income outside the home is trading hours for money where my business is RESIDUAL..I keep making it every month whether I work more or less..

For all the women out there who know what I'm feeling, never give up..If you believe in your Product or Service, go for it! Don't let anyone or anything bring you down!

What does it mean to think "outside the box?"

Most of us have grown up with certain beliefts, morals and ideals. For example: you go to school, maybe college, go out into the workplace and you work 40 hours/wk for 40 years with hopes of retiring and enjoying the rest of your life. At least that's the plan for many of us. Right?

Well...let's think about this...Instead of enjoying life while we are young, we feel forced to spend our entire lives working so later on when we're older, we can relax and enjoy our time? To me, this makes no sense at all. We have all been programmed to believe that this is normal and I'll be the first one to admit that I fell into this trap myself but I have fortunately been lucky enough to be exposed and open minded to thinking outside "the Great American Box."

Tips to Eliminate Phone Fear

The fear of the phone is a common problem many business people face every day but it is absolutely essential to overcome this if you want to move your business forward. I know firsthandedly how this fear can cripple you and prevent you from conducting your daily operations.

Let’s really think this through logically. A phone does not have the ability to hurt you in any way so it’s obviously not the phone itself you’re afraid of but the person on the other line. So, where are these fears coming from? Many people won't pick up that phone simply because they fear rejection but if you change the way you react to rejection than that's when you will start seeing changes in your business as well as yourself. Here are some tips that have helped me conquer this.

Learn to accept NO and move on. If you can’t accept this you are going to be a very unhappy person in business and you may want to rethink your career. Let’s face it. No one likes the word no but there’s no way around it. Remember that rejection is a normal part of selling. You must not take it personal when someone says no. Focus on the yes’s that you are getting and forget the no's!!Learn to separate the business from the personal and keep on keeping on.

Don’t try to be Perfect. It’s natural to want to give a great presentation but don’t analyze every word you’re going to say or follow a script word for word. Be yourself and be natural. Pretend like you’re talking to an old friend. If you put the focus on the person you’re talking to as opposed to thinking about yourself and what they may be thinking about you, the conversation will go much smoother. You want to address your client’s needs first and then decide whether they can benefit from your company and vice versa. It’s a lot easier to speak naturally when you’re not trying to force an outcome. Have the “how can I help you today” approach and you will see a big difference in your conversations with people as well as an increase in your paycheck.

Practice over and over. Practice will build your self confidence and self confidence is an absolute must when picking up the phone. Even if you have to “fake it til you make it” that will help you learn how to act like a confident person and changing your actions does really change how you feel.

Just do it!
When I was trying to conquer this problem, I would set a goal for that day as to how many prospects I would call. My main goal was to call say 20 prospects that day with the concentration being on making the call. I would pay no attention to the result. I would then make separate piles to show how many prospects I left messages for, how many I gave a full presentation to and how many may have said no. I was surprised to learn that I had much more success than I anticipated. Remember fears are created in your mind and the more you give in to them the more they grow. Also, try not to prejudge anyone. Prejudging is like setting yourself up for the negative.

My last and final point is try to have fun with it. Don’t take the phone so seriously. Pick it up with a smile on your face and great intentions to help someone today. Again, if you focus on the prospect's needs you will feel less pressure and they will feel more comfortable with you. Feed your mind with positive thoughts before you start calling. Your phone call could make a difference in someone's life. If you approach the phone in a friendly manner and with a positive attitude you will notice a big difference in the success of your business.

You need to put yourself first. Remember that your needs are just as important as someone else’s. Start making a list of your wants and desires. Put it on paper so you can see them daily.

BE YOURSELF: Don’t try to be like someone else. You are unique. There is no one in this world like you. Microwave Mentality vs Reality

Are you guilty of having a microwave mentality? You know, the type of person who starts huffing and puffing in line at the bank because he's been waiting 5 minutes for his turn or what about the guy who keeps hitting the elevator button in hopes it will speed up the elevators' arrival. This " I want it now" Mentality is really causing people to have a distorted view of reality and now with the Internet promising so much wealth and success, people are jumping from one opportunity to the next hoping to find that get rich quick thing. Often times when people do find a great company with a great service or product, they quit before the blessing. They expect it to happen overnight and when they do not see results fast enough they're gone and onto the next one. I can't tell you how many times a team member has come to me after a few weeks saying "I'm not signing business!" What kills me is they've only been in the business a week or two! It's almost laughable but by the same token it's actually pretty sad that a person could expect that from themselves in such a short period of time. You need time to get to know the Service/Product, the company's background and the skills needed to do the job. Some people come in with more skills in place than others but you need to give yourself time to learn the ropes.Can you imagine being thrown into a nursing job with no education or training? You must treat a new business opportunity with the same respect. It saddens me more than anything to see someone throw away what "could be" simply because of impatience and this microwave way of thinking. Most often this is the same type of person who never finishes what they start because they never stick around long enough to reap the rewards.

Impatience is a sign of inconsideration and selfishness. It shows that we are ungrateful and too easily distracted. It's really not hard to understand why simply because in today's fast paced world of drive through restaurants, text messaging, and cell phones, we have grown accustomed to instant gratification and immediate access to whatever we want. When you're hungry you can put a meal into the microwave for 3 minutes and voila, your hunger is gone. If you don't like that song, you can change the station or if you don't want to see that tv commercial just grab the remote and with the internet, you can type in what you're looking for and immediately you have the world at your fingertips. It's really become that easy but unfortunately it is not reality. There are still some things in life that require hard work, time and patience. For ex. growing a garden. You don't plant seeds and immediately you have a flower. It takes time for the seeds to cultivate and grow and not all the seeds are going to take. Many of them will die. We must apply this principle to our businesses. You must enjoy the ride because it's the journey that teaches us the lessons which help us grow and develop ourselves and achieve our goals. That's the part of the equation people are missing out on these days.

Let's be honest. No one likes to wait but this "Microwave Mentality" has caused us to expect everything we want to be readily, easily and instantly available. The problem naturally comes when things that take real work are not instantly available but the good news is we do have the power to change if we want to. Dig deep inside yourself and find the reasons why you are impatient. Don't blame it all on society and external things, get to the root of the problem inside you and change your attitude. When you start showing gratitude for the blessings you already have in your life, you will stop focusing on those every day situations that cause you to be irritated and stressed out. Remember that happiness is a journey not a destination and once you learn the virtue of Patience andyou start showing patience towards others, you will live a longer happier life and achieve success in everything you do.

Have you ever been told you are Super Sensitive or Emotionally Oversensitive?

Well if so, I can relate totally to what you're feeling. All my life I was always told I was a highly sensitive person. Many times people would not tell me important things simply because they feared they would hurt my feelings. When I think back to junior high and high school, I was often teased and picked on because I would easily cry and show emotion. However, as I grew older I got tired of being the "sensitive one" because it made me feel inferior and weak. Having this label made me feel like a child who was too young to handle adult responsibilities and experiences and I found myself feeling embarrassed when someone in my family would refer to me as the oversensitive one. For the past few years I have tried very hard to conquer this "stigma" and throughout my research, i was surprised to discover that there are actually some advantages and gifts associated with the overly sensitive individual. Here is what I found.

Over sensitive people are exceptional in a way that they are highly intuitive, very caring, creative and empathetic. They have great emotional passion, depth and perception and they often times feel the need to service and help others. Their empathetic ability is a normal ability that each human being is born with but the overly sensitive person has got a much higher advantage in using this ability. Over sensitive people experience happiness more often because their emotions are felt on a deeper level than the normal person. They have so much to offer and contribute to themselves and others but unless they learn to let the advantages dominate the disadvantages, dealing with over sensitivity on a day to day basis will cause much pain and inhibit you from the success and happiness you deserve.

In order to turn your remarkable gifts into success you must first change how you view criticism. If someone says you didn't perform well today at the piano recital, this doesn't mean you are a terrible pianist or a failure and you're worthless. It's not the words that are hurtful, it's the underlying meaning that we associate with the criticism. So, what causes your view of the criticism to be a bad thing? Most often it's the negative self talk such as "I'm not good enough" or "I've never been smart." A lack of self confidence is one of the major factors that can cause you to put yourself down and create negative self talk. By building your self confidence and changing your negative self talk to something positive you will change your perspective on what you hear and you will no longer feel hurt. I know it all seems easier said than done but if you truly want to conquer this you must learn to stop the negative noises in your mind.

The second thing you must pay close attention to is your moods and emotions and how others moods and emotions affect you. Over sensitive people have a strong empathetic insight into how others feel so be sure not to confuse someone else's feelings with yours. Use your great communication skills and perceptions to help others as opposed to letting their moods affect you.

Also, you must try not to blow things out of proportion and over exaggerate. This is very hard to do because super sensitive people truly feel their feelings at that magnitude but if you don't get the exaggeration under control, unfortunately people will not take you seriously and will assume you're over reacting and distorting the truth. One little saying that helps me when my emotions take over is "Act, don't react" This principle takes a great deal of maturity and humility. Most of us react defensively to any negative feedback we hear directly or indirectly. It is hard to remain stoic when someone criticizes us or says something we don't like or want to hear.

The final point I'd like to make is take steps to build your self confidence. Without self confidence you will surely miss out on alot of available opportunities because you will be afraid to take risks. In order to improve your confidence you need to stop putting alot of weight on what people think of you. Sit down and make a list of your strengths and weaknesses and keep it in front of you daily. If someone makes a comment, match it to your list and if it doesn't match, dismiss it. Don't let other people define your self image.

Over sensitive people do not have a mental illness and they're not weak. They're actually very strong because they allow themselves to feel naturally. Many people block out their feelings because they do not want to feel pain, anger or sadness which can greatly affect a person's mental health and stability but that's not you. You have so many remarkable gifts to give others. Take your ability to be empathetic and creative and turn it into success by helping others. Your strengths are empathy, great emotional passion and perception, to name a few, so take those gifts and give them BACK TO YOURSELF! What a concept! That's the secret and that's the key to your success. Once you do that, you will be on the road to a happier and fulfilling life.

How to Balance your Homebusiness and Family Life

When I started my homebusiness over a year 1/2 ago, I never dreamed there would be so many factors to consider. Raising a family and conducting business from your home can sometimes feel like you’re working two full time jobs. Sometimes I literally feel like a juggler in the circus. It’s especially challenging if you don’t master the art of scheduling. If you don’t equip yourself with a good planner and effective time management, the house goes to hell, your child or children feel neglected and your business feels more like a hobby than an actual business. Working from home might appear to be an idyllic alternative to working outside the home, but the reality can often be quite different especially if there is no organized schedule in place. The clashes between work and family become more immediate, and there are everyday interruptions which make it hard to maintain a polished and professional work environment. Let’s face it, Corporate America does not include family related responsibilites in the job requirements.

Here are some quick tips to help you better manage your Family Time and Work Time.

Create a Daily Schedule (laundry, time with family, meals, work) . Stick to your schedule as best as you can; Decide what time you’re going to devote to training, what time you’re going to devote to working your business, and what time you’re going to spend with family and friends.
Set Boundaries: Give yourself permission to work without the guilt; Family Time is Family Time, Work is Work but understand that part of running a home business is the flexibility and that flexibility can sometimes be called to order.

Delegate a separate space for work: Maintaining professionalism when you’re working at home is critical. You don’t want the kids answering your business calls but by the same token, maybe set up a small desk for the little ones so they can still be involved as long as they understand and respect your work rules. Create a pleasant cheerful workspace by decorating it just like you would do if you had an outside office.

Let personal phone calls and emails go unanswered while you work. Take time before or after work to answer these. Make sure family members have a way to get in touch with you in case of an emergency though. Be certain friends and neighbors know that while you are home, you really are working and you can’t just stop to chat whenever they wish.

Set a time each day when you shut down business completely ( I confess that this one is my greatest challenge). Whatever comes up after office hours, deal with tomorrow.

Plan ahead. This is especially important to help you deal with the unexpected interruptions that occur. If the telephone company is coming tomorrow, you may have to adjust your schedule accordingly and if a family member suddenly becomes ill, you might lose a day of work time. Being a step ahead of where you need to be will only help.

Watch your eating habits and get up and stretch once in awhile. Definetly take breaks here and there and don’t forget to eat. That will give you just enough of a rest to recharge and get back to work feeling refreshed.

Most importantly remember WHY you wanted to work from home in the first place. Write “your why” on paper and keep it in front of you each day as you move forward in your business. That will only reinforce your goals, dreams and aspirations for you and your family’s future. Heck, and don’t forget the wonderful commute to work is only just a few feet away and one that you can make in your bathrobe and slippers.

Even more importantly than your why, make time with your kids part of your everyday routine.Whether it’s having breakfast with the kids, reading a book, or an hour spent helping your child with their homework. Children appreciate a routine, and scheduling regular time with your kids will help you avoid getting too consumed with the demands of your home-based business. You know the cliché about tomorrow and how disappointing it can be for a child when tomorrow never comes. Scheduling daily time with the kids will help you remember that your kids are just as important as your homebased business activities.

So remember, starting a homebusiness can be very exciting however you must realize that there are many factors that come into play. Not only do you have to consider the daily demands of your business but also the everyday demands of your family as well. This delicate balancing act of family and work will take some getting used to for sure but your ultimate goal is to of course make time for your family while you concurrently run a successful business from your home.

1. Are you a self starter or do you need to be disciplined and told what to do?

2. Can you make decisions on your own or do you always need the assistance of others?

3. Can you resist the temptation to play when you should be working?

4. Do you mind spending time alone?

5. Can you discipline yourself to perform unpleasant tasks that may be important to your business?

6. Is your family supportive of your decision to stay home?

7. Do you constantly need feedback from others to feel secure with your abilities?

These are some of the main questions to ask before attempting to search for the right work from home opportunity. Keep in mind that if you are coachable and trainable, you can learn the skills needed to be successful with a home business. Everyone knows there are so many work from home opportunities and home based businesses out there today. There are so many factors to consider before you decide which one is the best fit for you. First of all, you need to think about what you actually want to do. What do you like?
What are your interests? Make a list of the things that you are knowledgeable about, things that you would like to learn more about and explore. Do you like meeting people face to face? I have always enjoyed helping people and making a difference in others lives which is why I chose a service based industry as opposed to a product based industry. If it is products that you're interested in, ask yourself who wants to market a product that can be found in the mall or a local store? You need to find a product that is of value to the consumer not something that can be conveniently bought at Walmart or Target. Ultimately, the product must be in demand and be able to stand on it's own but keep in mind that many of these companies want you to purchase a certain amount of products each month in order to keep moving your business forward. For me personally I did not want that burden upon me so I opted out of selling products.

Now there are alot of companies out there that will say all you have to do is sign up with them and people will magically come to your website and you'll wake up in the morning with hundreds of sales without doing anything. WRONG! There is no such thing and if anyone is pitching that line to you, it's by far a lie. There is no such thing as a get rich quick and if you still believe somewhere that you will find that then you need to stop reading this now.

Another factor to consider when choosing the right home business is Time. How much time do you have to work on your business each day/week? Are you going to start out supplementing your income or do you need to replace a job? Are you working the business with a spouse or friend? You need to give yourself ample time to learn the business and learn the skills needed to operate the business effectively. Don't expect to learn it overnight and don't compare yourself to others in your business who may be moving faster or slower. Each person is coming from a different background, education and skills so comparing yourself to others will do nothing but inhibit you from success.

My last and major point to consider when choosing the right home business is the investment. Ask yourself how much are you willing to invest? Remember that if you were to start a business from scratch you would need the tools to create and setup your business. There is no way around it. Whether you are creating baskets to sell or building custom bookcases, you need tools. Many businesses come with everything already in place such as the websites for online or offline marketing, back offices to maintain reports and accounting and training/support and conference calls.

Most well established companies have conference calls that you can listen in on, daily pay and they have websites that you can read and online training/support as well as a main corporate office with a contact number. Also pay attention to the testimonials. Be sure that there are testimonies on both the service/product and the opportunity. You will find good and bad (if you don't, there is a problem) about every company. Even huge fortune five hundred companies like Walmart and Microsoft receive complaints and unhappy customers. There is no way we can make everyone happy. It's just not realistic. I try to stay away from some of the google reports such as ripoffreport and bbb.com only because you often times get people who have had a bad experience with an industry or they were not a good match for a particular company and they start talking bad and spreading rumors that are just not true. Throughout my experience in the home business industry, you do find many people with the "microwave" mentality who are looking to get rich fast and unfortunately when the reality sets in that you really have to work and put effort in, they feel disgruntled and disappointed so ultimately those websites in my opinion are not a good source for considering the right company for you.
